The Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center held its 4th annual retreat on Saturday December 15 at the Levitt Center. The retreat was attended by 48 diabetes research faculty, the 7 postdoctoral diabetes research T32 scholars, and 7 additional senior trainees. The keynote speaker was Elizabeth Seaquist MD, who is the Pennock Family Chair in Diabetes Research at the University of Minnesota and a world renowned clinical research in the area of hypoglycemic complications of diabetes. One highlight of the retreat was a “speed dating” exercise, where center members met for multiple brief 1-on-1 sessions to discuss research ideas. Six new FOEDRC faculty gave presentations regarding their diabetes focused work. Likewise, the T32 scholars newly appointed this year also presented their work.
