Margaret Mungai, a member in the Abel Laboratory and mentored by Antentor Hinton Jr. is set to be featured among 45 other students on banners hanging around downtown Iowa City. Mungai’s banner will be located on Washington Street. Her feature comes after her research on the effects of impaired metabolism and skeletal muscle cellular signaling on Type 2 diabetes for the past two years.
The campaign that is set to feature these banners around Iowa City is called Dare to Discover, which showcases researchers, scholars, and creators from across the University of Iowa. It is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President of Research.
Mungai has also received several awards including the Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduate’s Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award, an Oral Presentation Award in Cell Biology at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students and a travel award for the American Society of Cell Biology’s conference.
Please help us in congratulating Margaret Mungai on her accomplishments!
