The Obesity Research and Education Initiative (OREI) was established in 2011 with the goal to enhance obesity research at the University of Iowa.
Recently, Director of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center (FOEDRC), Dale Abel and UI neuroscience and pharmacology professor, Kamal Rahmouni were appointed co-directors of the OREI, they will succeed co-founding directors Allyn Mark and Charles Brenner.
In an interview with the Daily Iowan, Abel says that the OREIĀ has not only been effective with making discoveries in obesity, but in bolstering careers for the researchers. Now that the OREI will have a closer relationship with the FOEDRC it will allow more members of the UI community to be apart of the ongoing research.
Congratulations to Dale Abel and Kamal Rahmouni!
