Six new appointees to Diabetes Center training grant

The Diabetes Research Center has appointed six new trainees to the T32 training grant. The purpose of the T32 training program is to enable the University of Iowa to recruit individuals selected by them for predoctoral and postdoctoral research training in specified shortage areas. The goal of this program is to prepare qualified predoctoral and/or postdoctoral trainees for careers that have a significant impact on the health-related research needs in the US.

Dr. E. Dale Abel, Director of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center (FOEDRC) and Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine, and Dr. Andrew (Andy) Norris, FOEDRC’s Associate Director, were awarded a five-year, $2.02M training grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases of the National Institutes of Health. The T32 grant funds the Diabetes Research Training Program at the University of Iowa and supports up to six post-doctoral trainees or sub-specialty fellows per year. The grant supports existing trainees or the recruitment of outstanding new trainees to the University of Iowa.

Please help us welcome our six new T32 trainees.
